List 3 Non-yoga/Pilates facts about yourself :

  1. When people meet me they think I’m very calm and Zen, what they don’t know is playing heavy metal in my car as I drive home.
  2. I love the ocean but I have a deep fear about getting eaten by Jaws.
  3. I’m Syrian but I have no idea where to say I’m from when people ask me, as, I was born in London, raised in Nigeria and Lebanon. I guess I’m a citizen of the world.

How long have you been teaching? What made you start?

Stress and depression. I struggled with depression for many years, so I decided to start meditating after reading up on it’s many benefits. I also started to attend a Yoga class with a very calm voiced woman and got hooked to that calmness I felt in Svansana, that was 7 years ago.  I started teaching 2 years ago after I got my 200TT.

What do you teach?

I teach both Vinyasa flow and Hatha.

What can someone expect in your class?

encouragement and support. My classes are both hard work and calming in a supportive space. I only teach what I practice myself, So, my classes include a lot of breathing, meditation and advanced poses practiced safely. I like to encourage a sense of community in the class.

What is your favourite thing to do besides work at Piloga?

I love to eat and love to cook. I experiment with new dishes all the time.
